2. Future Plans and Objectives <br />President Dodge presented the report on Future Plans and Objectives. <br />Discussion followed concerning modes of transportation for distributing <br />materials delivered at the Port; the condition of the railroad tracks on <br />Chestnut Street, the quantity of traffic which could be expected to attract <br />Southern Pacific's interest in providing tracks east of Highway 101; the use of <br />trucks in off -peak hours; the use of barges; the status of the CalTrans Study <br />on Eastside Transportation and approaches to and from the Dumbarton Bridge. <br />CONSENSUS: At the suggestion of Councilman Bury, and there being no objection, <br />the subject of reminding CalTrans of the Eastside Study and calling the need <br />for connections with Dumbarton Bridge to the attention of Assemblymen Naylor <br />and Sher was referred to the Legislative Committee. <br />MEMO 7/31/84 <br />Commissioner Keckley urged Council to use whatever means might be available to <br />get Southern Pacific to upgrade the Chestnut Street tracks now because of the <br />safety hazards presented. <br />Mayor Britschgi stated that Councilmen Bury and Chandler are on the Port Area <br />Jurisdiction Committee, and President Dodge said he and Commissioner Keckley <br />are the Port Commission members. <br />President Dodge presented a check for $100,000 to Mayor Britschgi as the Port's <br />contribution to the City this year. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Britschgi determined it to be the consensus of both agencies <br />that July, as the beginning of the fiscal year, is a desirable time for holding <br />the annual joint meeting. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business, the Joint Meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m. <br />JACQUELINE C.
