1. Presentation of Plaque for Distinguished Service to <br />Judge Frank Piombo, former member of the Library Board <br />Mayor Britschgi presented the plaque to Judge Piombo, thanked him for his <br />years of service to the City and wished him well in his future endeavors. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />2. Presentation of Plaques for Distinguished Service to <br />Lydia C. Rasmussen, retiring from the City Library <br />after 27 years service; Floria Miller, retiring from <br />the City Library after 23 years; and Preston Sullivan, <br />retiring from service in the Building and Public Works <br />Departments <br />Mayor Britschgi presented a plaque to Mr. Sullivan; thanked him for his <br />service to the City, and wished him many happy and rewarding years of <br />retirement. <br />Mayor Britschgi announced that Lydia Rasmussen and Floria Miller were unable <br />to be present to receive their plaques, expressed appreciation for their many <br />years of service to the City, and stated that their plaques will be delivered <br />to them. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />3. Public Hearing - Application to rezone 139 acres of <br />property located at Area "E" of Redwood Shores ( north <br />of Shell Parkway between Steinberger Slough and the <br />controlled waterway) to the followinq districts: R -1 <br />(Residential -- Single Family), R -3 (Multifamily--Low <br />Density), R -4 (Multifamily -- Medium Density), CN (Neigh- <br />borhood Commercial), PF (Public Facilty), TP (Tidal <br />Plain) and TPW (Tidal Combining) from <br />present zoninq Districts: R-1,-R-2 (Residential- - <br />Duplex), R -4 and TP, Redwood Shores, Inc., applicant <br />Planning Commission record transmitted 9/14/84 <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing and Mailing on file. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 7:45 p.m. <br />Acting Planning Director Patterson reviewed the history of the area and <br />replied to questions by Council, stating that the intended use of the PF <br />zoned areas is parks, a water storage tank and a fire station; that the <br />proposed density conforms with the 1975 General Plan which allows R -1, R -2 <br />and R -3 Districts in the area. <br />Mike Gibson, 3 Twin Dolphin Drive, representing Redwood Shores, Inc., the <br />applicant, described the concept plan with the aid of slide projections, and <br />replied to questions by Council regarding conventional single-family homes <br />stating that the value of land requires greater density; and also regarding <br />the proposed school site. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />10/15/84 <br />Page 2 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 45 <br />Page No. 157 <br />
