that the matter dates back to 1981 with a request, which was approved by
Council, for abandonment of a portion of Madrone Street near Hazel and
conditions required removal of curb returns, sidewalk and pavement. When
they subsequently went in to improve their property one condition of the Use
Permit was to extend the water main. The existing water line is an old 2"
line and is insufficient for flow to a fire hydrant.
At request of Council, Mr. Addiego referred to overhead projection of a
drawing of the location; and replied to questions by Council regarding the
need for a 6 line; whether there is an existing fire hydrant, and that in
any case, the water main is necessary to supply a fire service line to the
building.
Mr. Harker (see above), stated that the abandonment described had been
initiated by the previous owner, but that he agreed to continue the
abandonment proceedings after he acquired the property.
M /S: Rhodes /Chandler to refer the matter back to the Subdivision Committee.
Carried by majority by voice vote.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 84 -164
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
9. Award of Lease - Purchase Financing for Computer Upgrade
Report of City Manager and Director of Finance 10/5/84
Director of Finance Tasseff and Assistant Director of Finance Becker
commented and replied to questions by Council regarding the expanded
capability with the added components, and that the reason for lease -
purchasing is that this helps the City to leverage its capital outlay funds;
that since the City can get tax exempt lease - purchasing at a lower rate than
it can make on its investments, it can pay for the financing and invest the
funds until they have to be paid. Other lease - purchases have been utilized
in the recent past, for a fire engine, street sweeper and the first computer
upgrade.
Reg.Mtg.
10/15/84
Page 7
MINUTE BOOK NO. 45
Page No. 162
