Item No. 6 (continued) <br />Councilman Stangel, Redwood City representative to SBSA, described the Board <br />membership which prepared the SBSA budget. <br />In response to question, Mr. Bewley said that the water quality of San <br />Francisco Bay is greatly improved and noted that maintaining clean water is <br />very desirable but not inexpensive, and SBSA is gratified at the success of <br />the plant in doing so. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 9:17 p.m. and invited <br />anyone who wished to speak to do so. No one wished to speak. <br />M /S: Stangel /Chandler to close the public hearing. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 9:18 p.m. <br />Title read. Personnel Committee Report on implementation of the <br />Classification and Compensation Study (508 -02) <br />Councilman -Claire presented the subject report dated November 2, 1984. <br />Assistant to City Manager Margolis replied to questions concerning ranges, <br />noting that the City's spread between low and high salaries was 33% which <br />would result in employees taking longer to reach the top salary than in the <br />customary 20% spread. <br />City Manager Smith said that while the Study can be updated, it is usually <br />necessary to prepare a new study periodically also. <br />Title read.
