REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br /> June 10, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br />Award of Contract - City Hall Council Chamber AudioNisual Systems <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br />Approve and authorize execution of agreement awarding the contract for the City Hall <br />Council Chamber Audio/visual Systems to the lowest responsible bidder, MCSi of <br />Berkeley, California for the Iow bid of $125,846.91. <br /> <br />Background <br />On December 3, 2001, the city Council authorized an agreement with Charles Salter <br />Associates, Inc. to design the audio/visual upgrades for the City Council Chamber. <br /> <br />The upgrades include the following: New LCD video projector <br /> <br /> Installation of the presenter timer at the public podium. <br /> <br /> Wiring changes to allow the public podium to.be located where it is now, <br /> without cables on the floor. <br /> <br /> A broadcast production system, including remote-controlled cameras and a <br /> console. <br /> <br /> ;- An upgrade to the control system, which will make the system easier to <br /> operate. <br /> <br /> ~- Individual monitors for staff and Council members. <br /> <br />The Contractor has estimated that the project should take approximately 60 days to <br />complete, once the contract is awarded. By August, full broadcast of all Council <br />meetings will be able to be done, without the setting up of any equipment. <br /> <br /> <br />
