Presentation of Developmental Projects - Centre Project Area

City Manager Smith presented the background on Redevelopment in the City
with the adoption in 1982 of the four project areas, Centre, Gate, Marina
and Seaport.

Planning Director Schroeter referred to a colored sketch of his concept
for a redevelopment project entitled "Seven Villages" which presents a
mixed use development featuring a "new generation" supermarket as an ex-
ample of the kind of plan which could be used for the Centre Project Area.
Mr. Schroeter pointed out that the consultants, Keyser Marston, who have
been preparing a downtown study indicate that food-oriented businesses and
such a supermarket would have a good chance for success downtown, and the
Council has been interested in a commercial/residential mix also.

Redev.Agency
7/11 /83

MINUTE BOOK NO. 44
Page No. 184

= ,~~ '. ~

- -~ "-_c---~~~~-
