CAPTURE Crime Prevention Programs - <br />agreement renewal <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br />EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH CITIZENS' CRIME <br />PREVENTION INCORPORATED, CAPTURE PROGRAM <br /> <br />Reports of City Manager and Human Services <br />Coordinator 2/22/82 <br /> <br />In response to question, City Attorney <br />Schricker advised that the proposed <br />resolution contains paragraphs required by <br />the federal government as block grant funds <br />are involved and the usual assignments of <br />responsibility. <br /> <br />In response to questions, Human Services <br />Coordinator Irizarry stated that Mrs. Linda <br />Anderson is the Executive Director of <br />CAPTURE; that the program involves crime <br />prevention of a type not provided by the <br />Police Department; that the intent of the <br />program is to involve neighborhoods in <br />preventing crime; that "free lock" <br />participants are frequently willing to <br />sponsor "Neighborhood Watch" meetings; and <br />that a women's self-protection class is <br />expected to be offered. <br /> <br />City Manager Smith observed that citizen <br />participation and volunteer ism in preventing <br />crime can be more effective and significantly <br />less expensive than hiring additional police <br />officers. <br /> <br />Title read. Approval of Concept - Proposed abandonment <br />of portion of Shasta Street <br /> <br />-,--~~,," <br /> <br />Reports of City Manager and Director of <br />Public Works 2/22/82 <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Addiego displayed a <br />slide illustrating the subject intersection <br />and indicated the proposed traffic <br />improvements, advising that B. J.
