PUBLIC HEARING (continued)

Item No.2 (continued)

Mary Gorth, 327 Hillside, Woodside, FORC, stating she had participated
in writing the General Plan in 1975, and she does not believe the
proposed South Shores development is desirable, because of its effect
on the quality of life in Redwood City.

Councilman Claire stated for the record that Bair Island was not
designated Open Space in 1975.

Mickey Bernstein, 10920 Page Mill Road, Los Altos Hills, California
Waterfowl Association, read a statement from his organization regarding
preservation of wetlands and their importance to migratory waterfowl.

Councilman Biagi asked Mr. Bernstein for the record if the objective of
his organization is hunting and discharging firearms for that purpose in
the bay lands. Mr. Bernstein stated that waterfowling is duck hunting.

Ray Burdick, San Mateo County Airports Manager, 1126 Blythe, San Mateo,
urged Council to accept the recommendation of the Airport Land Use
Committee (ACLU) and oher such organizations and grant an avigation
easement to the San Carlos Airport as a condition of any approvel of the
development.

Bill Chambers, 727 El Camino Real, urged the property be used for a
recreation area with fishing and hunting and said that the proposed
development is not compatible with such use, stating he opposes any
development of South Shores.

Robert Schoen, East Bayshore - not present when called.

Fior Revetta, 461 Lincoln, stated that the San Francisco Bay Waterfowlers
successfully petitioned Council to allow duck hunting on the Bay in 1975,
including a part of Corkscrew Slough, and suggested club members will lose
that right if the development is approved. Mr. Revetta recommended that
the unique area should be protected.

Donald R. Peterson, 788 Castle Hill Road, said he is a duck hunter and
fisherman and also goes boating and birdwatching in the baylands. He
described his qualifications and commented regarding the depth of the
channel, future sources of energy and the bay lands wildlife.

Pete Hughes, 2501 Spring Street, businessman in Redwood City, said he is
comfortable with the South Shore plan and strongly urges Council to
approve it.

Robert Gilmore, Building and Construction Trades Council, San Mateo
County, stated he favors the development because of the jobs it will
provide, but also, as a member of the San Mateo County Housing Task Force,
he is concerned about the lack of housing in the area. Mr. Gilmore
pointed out that those who opposed residential development of San Bruno
Mountain argued that the planned development of South Shores would provide
needed housing, but the same people appear to be opposing that development
now. Mr. Gilmore urged Council to approve the Plan and that the housing
portion of it be accelerated.

Rodney Robinson, 1258 Ruby, said he would like to see habitat restoration
of the entire San Francisco Bay.

Reg.
