Public Hearing - Planning Commission <br />recommendation that the General Plan be <br />amended for the area known as South Shores <br />as shown on a Revised Plan submitted by <br />South Shores, Inc. which includes a total of <br />610 single-family dwelling units; 1,505 <br />townhouses; 2,605 garden apartments; and <br />800-room hotel; 1,118,000 square feet of <br />office space; 960,000 square feet of <br />research and development space; and 370,000 <br />square feet of shopping center <br />(continued open from April 26, 1982) <br /> <br />Mayor Stangel declared the subject public <br />hearing continued open, stating that those <br />who had indicated they wished to speak on <br />April 26 would be heard first for three <br />minutes each. <br /> <br />Bob Norris, 470 Neptune Drive, former Councilman and Vice President of United <br />Airlines Flying Club, stated that he favors the proposed General Plan amendment <br />finding it to be a natural extension of the Redwood Shores development and <br />compatible with its surroundings. Mr. Norris suggested balance is important and <br />that sufficient environmental mitigation has taken place on Bair Island and other <br />needs must be met. He said San Carlos Airport has a good record as a neighbor and <br />urged that an avigation easement be granted.
