<br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS (continued) <br /> <br />Item No.2 (continued) <br /> <br />Counci lman Bury reported on recommendations 1, 2 and 3. <br /> <br />Councilman Biagi reported on recommendations 4, 5 and 6, and with regard to 6, <br />relating to Legislative Issues and Strategies Conference on June 14 and 15, <br />1982, to be held by the League of California Cities in Sacramento, urged par- <br />ticipation by the Council members able to do so. <br /> <br />City Manager Smith and Police Chief Bold commented and responded to questions <br />regarding the effect of proposed budget cuts for P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers <br />Standards and Training), stating that the program is funded in part by penalty <br />assessments and that the training offered is that which is mandated by the State <br />for bas i c supervi sory, management, speci a 1 i zed advanced offi cers, pl us additional <br />courses; that newly hired officers receive 400 hours training at the academy for <br />which tuition and certain expenses are paid, in addition to salary reimbursement. <br /> <br />Councilman Bury explained for the benefit of the audience that the recommenda- <br />tions of the Legislative Committee, subject to approval of the Council, are <br />transmitted by the Mayor to the appropriate legislative representatives. <br /> <br />M/S: 8iagi/Mosher to accept the report and recommendations of the Legislative <br />Committee. <br /> <br />(Recommendations are as follows: <br /> <br />1) EQUALIZED REDUCTION IN STATE SUBVENTION - SB 1477 (Marks) - SUPPORT <br />2) WORKERS I COMPENSATION CANCER PRESUMPTION - AB 3011 (Torres) - OPPOSE <br /> <br />3) PRIVATE PROPERTY FIRST AMENDMENT USE - AB 3562 - OPPOSE <br /> <br />4) P.O.S.T. Civic Cultural Commission recommendation <br />re San Mateo County Arts Council <br /> <br />Report of City Manager and Director of <br />Parks and Recreation 5/18/82 <br /> <br />Susan Swope, representing the Civic Cultural <br />Commission, referred to the subject report <br />and offered to answer any questions.
