� .�� - i REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager . � April 4, 2005 Subject Resolution of Intention to direct the Planning Commission to undertake a comprehensive review of the General Plan and provide the City Council with recommended amendments. Recommendation Approve the attached Resolution of Intention. Background The City Council will start to review and discuss the General Plan process and vision at the joint study session with the Planning Commission on April 4. Article XI, Section 18.61 of the Municipal Code requires that the City Council or Planning Commission must first initiate proceedings to amend the General Plan by adopting a Resolution of Intention. The attached Resolution of Intention directs the Planning Commission to undertake a comprehensive review of the General Plan and provide the City Council with recommended amendments. The Resolution of Intention does not in any manner adopt or approve any concepts of recommendations being proposed for the General Plan. It just formally gives direction to the Planning Commission to begin the review process as required by the Municipal Code. Formal adoption of the new General Plan will occur at a later time following review by the Pfanning Commission, City Council, and public. Please refer to the staff report on the General Plan process and vision on the April 4�' agenda for more information. !
