8 ORIGINAL 07/26/99 AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT (Redwood City 2000 Community Action and Resource Council) THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 60~ day of ~ ~ by and between the COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, a political subdivi~r of the State of California, ("County"); the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a municipal corporation of the State of California, ("City"); REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, an elementary school district, ("Elementary School District"); and SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, a high school district, ("High School District"); all of which entities are referred to collectively as "the Parties". WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the Parties enter into an agreement to establish a Redwood City 2000 Community Action and Resource Council tCt provide oversight to multiple collaborative programs designed to improve the health and quality of life in Redwood City and to provide a forum for collaborative needs assessment and community planning based on the National Civic League Healthy Communities Model: NOW THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE MUT AL COVENANTS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, THE PARTIES AGREE AS FOLLOWS: 1. PURPOSE. The Parties are entering into this Agreement for the sole :)urpose of providing assistance to and allowing the establishment of a Redwood City 2000 Community Action and Resource Council (the "Community Action and Resource Council"). The Community Action and Resource Council exists for three major purposes: A. To provide a forum wherein representatives of public entities can \\ ork together and with members of the private sector, business and the community at large to improve the quality of life in Redwood City. 2
