CONSULTING ENGINEEUS · SURVEYOUS · PLANNERS

318 BRANNAN STREET · SAN FRANCISCO. CALIFORNIA 94107 (41§1546-7111
September 7, 1988
Mr. Charles Csiscman P-3390

1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94064

Re: Standard Drawing and Design Policies Project

Dear Mr. Csiscman: .......

KCA Engineers is pleased to respond to your recent request for a
revised proposal to increase the total number of standard
drawings to be produced from 100 to 150. Acknowledging the fact
of City budgetary constraints, we have contacted anothe~ ~e_ndor
and negotiated a more favorable pricing structure for the
drafting phase of the project as well as restructured our fees in
order to more nearly meet your financial needs.

Our proposal still assumes that the project will be formatted in
a manner similar to that produced by this office for the City of
Hercules, California; that is, a series of public works standard
drawings organized in various sections (street improvements,
storm drainage, sanitary sewers, etc.) prefaced in most cases by
a section devoted to design policies related to the particular
public works facility. Our proposal is contingent on the use of
our electronic database which was created during the Hercules
effort.

We envision the process of creating this set of standards as
follows:

1. Review existing standards with city input to establish list of
standards and design policies to be developed.

2. Create new plate or exhibit (of any type):

a) Review and annotate plate
b) ' CADD draft exhibit
c) KCA backcheck
d) CADD draft corrections
e) City backcheck
f) CADD draft corrections and output
g) Supply camera-ready plate to City

PETER J.
