5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br />M/S Howard /Foust to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br />by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The <br />motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br />Jeff Filippi spoke of two items addressed in a letter submitted by Dr. William Amalu. <br />The first item involved the homeless using private property facilities. Dr. Filippi stated <br />that in the past he had experienced people using his business property as a <br />bathroom facility and over the weekend a person had personal items and a sleeping <br />bag set out on the property. He stated that when he called the Police Department at <br />4:45 Sunday that he was told there was nobody available and that he should remove <br />the items himself. His second topic concerned the renaming of Middlefield Road to <br />Theatre Way requesting that the businesses be notified and involved in a meeting <br />that is scheduled in accordance with the affected businesses. <br />Jeri Joseph announced to the Council and the community the Pet Parade to be held <br />on Saturday, April 9 at noon at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt <br />Avenue. <br />Nita Spangler mentioned, "Paradise Losr, from the University of California Press and <br />the bestseller, "Collapse ", stating that it will be clear what is happening in California. <br />The Peninsula being between the densely populated areas of San Francisco and <br />San Jose creates tremendous pressure to build more housing. She stated her hope <br />that the City is looking for new ideas and being open to moving ahead with some <br />determination for the betterment of the whole city and not just a few who are <br />pressuring for changing of the rules right now. <br />5.1 Section — Motions <br />A.
