WHEREAS, this agreement as hereinafter set forth would <br /> greatly reduce the time of response to provide emergency fire <br /> protection and rescue services to the Service Area as well as <br /> permitting maximum use of equipment and manpower and thereby <br /> increasing fire emergency efficiency and rescue capabilities of both <br /> Authority and City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the South County Fire <br /> Protection Authority, acting by and through the Commission of South <br /> County Fire Protection Authority, desire to enter into an agreement <br /> to provide response to life and property threatening calls subject to <br /> specific conditions including reimbursement by the City of Redwood <br /> City for the cost thereof as herein set forth; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants <br />and agreements herein set forth, the parties hereto do hereby agree <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Authority and City Services. South County Fire <br />Authority will provide all first alarm responses into the Service <br />Area. Redwood City will not respond into Service Area on the initial <br />alarm and will not provide a cover-in unit to Authority on initial <br />alarms. Redwood City will respond into Service Area if additional <br />equipment is requested by the Authority. <br /> <br /> 2. Simultaneous First Alarm. Redwood City and South <br />County Fire Authority agree to provide a Battalion Chief and a Truck <br />Company to each other in the event of a simultaneous first alarm <br />assignment when the other department is already involved in a first <br />alarm assignment. <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
