A new parking garage is
being constructed as part of the development. The parking garage will have two
below grade parking levels. Due to the need to permanently dewater the parking
garage, and the likelihood of chemically impacted groundwater entering the
dewatering system from offsite sources, the water must be treated before
discharge to the storm drain. The goal of the City is to treat the groundwater until
which time sampling analytical results indicate treatment may be discontinued,
and the groundwater may be discharged direct to the storm drain.

Project Scope

Task 1:

NPDES Permit

GEl will prepare the necessary paperwork and represent the City in obtaining an
initial National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit from the
Regional Water Quality Control Board to discharge groundwater into the storm
drain system before start-up of the dewatering system.

To accomplish this task, GEl will prior to operation of the groundwater treatment
system, collect one representative sample of untreated groundwater from the
existing construction dewatering system before it is discharged to the sanitary

r

.
