<br />**Police Captain benchmarked to Deputy Fire Chief. <br />**Police Chief benchmarked minimum 15% above Police Captain. <br /> <br />Adjustments to salary ranges of benchmarked classifications shall be <br />effective on the date that adjustment occurs to the classification it <br />is benchmarked to. <br /> <br />Similarly, in the event a subordinate classification's salary range is <br />adjusted and infringes on the top step minimum differential spread to <br />its supervisory alassification or existing salary relationship as <br />listed in Attachment C, the supervisory classification's salary range <br />shall be adjusted on the same effective date as the subordinates <br />classification so that minimum differentials are maintained. <br /> <br />Probationary Period - All original and promotional appointments made <br />of employees who are members of the executive service, shall be subject <br />to a probationary period of one (1) year, which may be shortened or <br />lengthened by six (6) months. <br /> <br />Exempt at-will employees shall not serve a probationary period. <br /> <br />An employee may be eligible for a pay for performance/merit salary <br />increase upon completion of their probationary period. <br /> <br />SECTION 4 - EXECUTIVE SERVICE BENEFIT PACKAGE <br /> <br />Vacation - Full-time employees shall be entitled to annual vacation <br />leave as follows: Upon completion of the initial six (6) months period <br />of employment, full-time employees shall be credited with five (5) days <br />of vacation leave. Thereafter, the first through the fourth calendar <br />year of service, ten (10) days of vacation; the fifth through the <br />fourteenth calendar year of service, fifteen (15) days of vacation; the <br />fifteenth and subsequent calendar years of service, twenty (20) days of <br />vacation. At the discretion of the department head, a probationary <br />employee who has completed at least six (6) months of his/her <br />probationary period may take accrued vacation leave. Probationary <br />employees who do not successfully complete their probationary period <br />are not entitled to be paid for accrued vacation time. <br /> <br />Illness During Vacation - An employee who commences a scheduled <br />vacation period and subsequently becomes ill before his or her vacation <br />period has been completed shall be placed on illness leave under the <br />following conditions: The employee otherwise qualifies for illness <br />leave as provided by this policy; the employee" if no longer ill, <br />returns to duty immediately following the vacation period; and, the <br />employee's illness is verified by a statement from an accredited <br />medical doctor for each such day of illness leave requested. <br /> <br />When the employee's vacation leave is converted to i}lness leave, the <br />appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the employee's earned <br />vacation balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation <br />credit shall be provided within the City's existing practices in order <br />to avoid loss of vacation credit. <br /> <br />, <br />I <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />--.u- ""'"""--- "-"~-_... <br />
