'3D-7

METHODOLOGY: This measure is determine the effectiveness of the City's tree preservation
efforts and serve as a guideline to verify that the number of trees intended to be preserved are
preserved for at least three years after construction. The number of trees to be "saved" during
construction can be claimed during a project year. However, if a tree dies or falls over shortly after
construction it was not truly preserved. This measure will show if the trees were preserved or
should have been skipped avoiding construction or removed. If trees are dying, the root pruning
methods need to be examined. If trees are falling over, the root pruning choices need to be
examined. If the City is remaining within the preservation measure targets and trees are surviving
the construction, the correct choices are being made.

Staff will measure the number of trees root pruned, the number of trees removed and the number
of failures/fatalities that occur within three years over a project area.

, Gm/wpwInlpelformance measureslsid_lk main! perf meas2

~---'-'T-" '
