4A~¡

Report Council Representatives. Ad Hoc Edgewood Park Traffic Committee

2

2. Ask that the Police monitor the areas with speed humps on a rotating basis to ticket
violators. On Edgewood at night, there are specific problems with vandalism and
tooting of horns.
3. Recommend that the legislative committee pursue photo-ticketing concept with the
League of California Cities and the Legislature.
4. At the next committee meeting the problem hump in the Redwood Oaks
Neighborhood will be evaluated with a report to the Council at the next possible
meeting.

Direction to RWC StatT
The general Traffic Committee may need to add to the "Traffic Guidelines" as well as
focus on other traffic areas within RWc. In preparation for this work, we would like the
Staff to gather additional information to guide future discussions and creation of a plan of
work. We would appreciate your assistance in obtaining the following materials.
1. Traffic hot spot information: A comprehensive report I analysis of Redwood City
traffic hot spots, including top speeding areas. Please include information about the
number of complaints, although complaints are only one problem indicator. Our hope
is that this can be compiled in 3 months.
2. Staffing information: According to the previous staffing study that was done, is the
Police department at full complement? If not, what are the unmet staffmg needs?
3. Synchronization of traffic lights: This item has been discussed for some time. Can we
get information regarding what the problems are and who needs to be included in this
discussion to make progress?
4. Information regarding options such as temporary speed humps, flashing lights for
cross walks, unusual pavement striping, photo-red lights, and photo-ticketing.
5. Meeting for broader committee: set date for meeting with staff and council
representatives to detail the work plan. Potential date: February 22, noon.

.-...-.. -_.. T"
