<br />1>~- <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />March 27, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Use of the Redwood City Police Department's Shooting Range by the Stanford University Department <br />of Public Safety , <br /> <br />Recom mendation <br />The City Council, by resolution, approve the contract allowing the Stanford University Department of <br />Public Safety use of the Redwood City Police Department's shooting range. <br /> <br />Background <br />The police department has an indoor yard, four lane firing range. The California Highway Patrol, and <br />Foster City, San Carlos, and Belmont Police Departments have contracted with the City for use of the <br />range. Currently, the aforementioned agencies are paying an hourly rate equivalent of $40 charged at <br />a fixed rate per day of usage. The Stanford University Department of Public Safety is requesting the <br />use of the range and is willing to enter into a three year contract at a cost of $36,000. This contract is <br />based on a $45 per hour charge for year one, $50 per hour for year two, and $55 per hour for year <br />three. The range fees for all contracting agencies will be charged at the same rate. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />1.
