<br />1 D J.\ - \ \ <br /> <br />Attachment 1 <br /> <br />Definitions of the more common types of sign violations: <br /> <br />Abandoned sign. A sign remaining in place for at least 90 days after it no <br />longer advertises or identifies an ongoing business, product, or service available <br />on the premises where the sign is located. <br /> <br />Excessive Façade Signage. A condition where the façade, or side of the <br />building where the main entrance is located, contains excessive signage <br />according to the allocation provided in Table 1 of Sign Ordinance No. 2161 . <br /> <br />Excessive Site Signage. A condition where the combined area of signs on a <br />business' property exceeds one and one half (1.5) square feet for each one (1) <br />foot of lot frontage along the longest property line of the site. <br /> <br />Excessive Window Signage. A condition where the combined area of window <br />signs on a business exceeds 25% of the total window area of the ground floor, or <br />10% of the window area on the second floor. <br /> <br />Non-conforming Freestanding Sign. A freestanding sign is a sign that is self- <br />supporting and in a fixed location, and is not attached to a building. A <br />freestanding sign is non-conforming when it either: <br />a) Exceeds 150 square feet in total area or 10 feet in width, or <br />b) Is not set back at least 6 feet from the curb or edge of pavement of the <br />nearest street, or <br />c) Exceeds 15 feet in height (unless approved by the Architectural Review <br />Committee). <br /> <br />Portable Sign. A sign that is designed to -be transportable and that is not fixed <br />to the ground or a permanent structure. <br /> <br />Prohibited Sign. A sign that is not permitted under any circumstances as <br />prescJ:ibed..by .SigJ:l Ordtnance NG; 2161; suehasa. billboard, fOefsign, or- <br />abandoned sign. <br /> <br />.'"T'.._~ <br />
