<br />1 H-l <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />May 22, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Advertisement for Bids - 1999-2000 Watermain Replacement Project <br />Engineering File No. 806-08 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Adopt a resolution approving the Contract Documents entitled, "FY 1999-2000 Watermain <br />Replacement Project," and authorize the advertisement for bids. <br /> <br />Background <br />The design of the FY 1999-2000 Watermain Replacement Project has been completed, and <br />the contract documents are ready for bid. <br /> <br />Every year the City undertakes a water replacement program funded by the Capital <br />Improvement Program Water Fund. This program is designed for systematically replacing <br />water distribution system main lines, which have a history of service disruptions due to age, <br />excessive maintenance requirements, insufficient fire protection, and/or capacity limitations. <br />A priority list is reviewed and updated annually by the Community Development Services <br />Department - Engineering & Construction, to determine the priority areas to be included in <br />the program each year.
