8ßi-3

MEMORANDUM

TO:

City Council

FROM:

Personnel Committee
Chair, Jim Hartnett
Members: Vice-Mayor Dick Claire; Councilmember Jeff Ira

DATE:

June 7, 2000

RE:

Compensation Adjustment - City Manager

The personnel committee recommends that the City Manager's compensation
be adjusted as follows:

1.
1, 1999; and,

Salary increase by 9.45% effective first pay period on or after October

2. At such times as Executive Management benefits change, City Manager
to receive the benefit of such change.

Attached please find a City Manager Compensation Survey March 2000.which
was undertaken by the City Clerk under the direction of the Personnel Committee.

Each member of the Personnel Committee took into consideration a number
of factors in connection with the recommendation. As is evident by the Compensation
Survey, the recommended compensation change will put the City Manager at parity with
the current compensation of comparable managers, but less than the San Carlos City
Manager. Committee members considered the San Carlos compensation to be abnormal.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the
committee members.

JHH:kd
Enclosure

L/Z'd

113Nl~~H ~ A3l1N38 'H1IWS W~9Z:11 00, ¿0 Nnr

,_w,... ,~ '1Ir
