<br />REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />June 26, 1999 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Award of Contract - Stulsaft Park Play Area Renovation <br />Engineering File No. 1302-02 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the Stulsaft Park Play Area Renovation Project <br />to the lowest responsible bidder, Cleary Bros. Landscape, Inc. of Danville, California, for their <br />low bid of $524,000. <br /> <br />Background <br />The design of the Stulsaft Park Play Area Renovation has been completed, and the project is <br />ready for construction. <br /> <br />The 0.6 acre play area is located in the existing Stulsaft Park along Farm Hill Boulevard. The <br />new play equipment in the park includes: <br /> <br />. composite play structure <br />. water play structure <br />. embankment slide <br />. swings <br />. seesaw snake <br />. water basins <br />. drop shot/Funnel ball <br /> <br />. benches <br />. picnic tables <br />. spring ring <br />. synthetic safety surfacing <br />. landscaping <br />. irrigation system <br />. underground utilities <br />. sand-based lawn <br /> <br />A stone-faced ramp with guardrails will connect the two-level park. The existing sidewalk <br />along Farm Hill Boulevard will also be relocated to enhance safety/protection of the street <br />parking. <br /> <br />Per the recommendation in the Soil Investigation Report, a certified Industrial Hygienist will <br />be hired to prepare a Site and Safety Health Plan for the proposed construction. All <br />excavated soil will be moved to a designated fill area in the park, and not used for backfill. <br />The area to accept the excavated soil will be hydroseeded upon the completion of the park <br />renovation. <br /> <br />The Architect's Estimate for this project is $496,000. <br /> <br />,~u...
