qA-3 <br /> PROPOSED RESOLUTION: <br /> GOVERNOR'S TRANSPORTATION PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, California's Governor has demonstrated commendable foresight in <br /> announcing a historic statewide fiscal commitment to public transportation <br /> improvements over the next five years; and <br /> WHEREAS, said transportation proposal includes funding to improve and <br /> expedite express service on the Caltrain rail line between San Francisco and <br /> Gilroy; and <br /> WHEREAS, Caltrain, as designated by the Metropolitan Transportation <br /> Commission's Blueprint for the 21 S ` Century, presents one of the most efficient <br /> means to mitigate congestion in the West Bay corridor; and <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of (CITY/TOWN) have demonstrated a genuine and <br /> consistent commitment to public transportation, joining other residents of San <br /> Mateo County in initiating a local sales tax measure for transportation in 1982, and <br /> a second in 1988. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City/Town of <br /> hereby conveys its appreciation for the Governor's initial investment in public <br /> transportation, and joins other municipalities throughout San Mateo County in <br /> urging a systematic, long-term dedication of similar State resources for <br /> transportation improvements to combat congestion, sustain our economic vitality, <br /> and preserve our quality of life. <br /> ___ .._ _ ��.v_.. ..� �_ . <br />
