<br /> <br />-\ <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From Council Member Pierce' <br /> <br />July 24, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Redwood City 2000 update <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council: <br />a) Approve the enclosed governance structure for Redwood City 2000. <br />b) Appoint a Council Member and alternate to serve on the Coordinating Council and <br />ask City Manager Ed Everett to continue to serve on the Operations Committee. <br />c) Provide study session time to set decision-making parameters for Council <br />representatives and discuss Council input for City I Redwood City 2000 focus areas. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />As a result of the joint policy board meeting regarding Redwood City 2000, <br />representatives for the County, Redwood City School District, Sequoia High School <br />District, Redwood City, Redwood City 2000 staff and community members have been <br />meeting to review and discuss the Redwood City 2000 governance structure. After <br />several discussions, the attending representatives recommend the following structure to <br />continue to address community needs through Redwood City 2000 and respond to <br />agency involvement and expenditure needs. <br /> <br />The following list gives the titles of groups and individuals within the governance <br />structure and a description of their responsibilities. <br /> <br />Community Action Network: ideas for action can come from any of the following <br />sources which make up the network - schools, residents, businesses, forums, <br />nonprofits, neighborhood groups, community conversations, individuals, boards, <br />council. <br /> <br />Operations Committee: Composed of senior staff from each of the funding partners of <br />RC2000 (which includes City of Redwood City, San Mateo County, Redwood City <br />School District and Sequoia Union High School District and the Peninsula Community <br />Foundation, a non-profit partner and a member of the Community Action Network). This <br />group will meet monthly and work by consensus to assist the RC2000 Director to <br />develop recommendations to be presented to the Coordinating Council. <br />The Operations Committee will take proposals to the Coordinating Council that meet <br />the following criteria: <br />a) The project connects with RC2000 vision and partner agency goals. <br />b) The project requires member agency resources of money, people, facilities, or <br />time. <br /> <br />,~"-_. .,. --""T <br />
