<br />-I <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />July 24,2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Purchase of Sanitary Sewer System Materials <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Approve resolution authorizing the purchase of sanitary sewer system materials from Weco <br />Industries of Vallejo, CA in the amount of $37,130.67. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Wastewater Management Services Division of the Public Works Services Department <br />orders large quantities of sanitary sewer materials for system repair and maintenance. The <br />Division developed a list of the maximum amount of the most commonly used materials and <br />supplies which could be needed during the new 2000/01 Fiscal Year (Although the entire <br />amount will not be expended, I.E. $13,598 was expended in FY 1999/00). The City Clerk <br />advertised the bid invitation with copies of the bid being mailed to three vendors. The two <br />bids received were opened by the City Clerk on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 and are <br />summarized as follows: <br /> <br />3- T Equipment Company <br /> <br />Petaluma, CA <br /> <br />$37,130.67 <br />$45,521.40 <br /> <br />Weco Industries, Inc. <br /> <br />Vallejo, CA <br /> <br />US Filter <br /> <br />Santa Clara, CA <br /> <br />No Bid <br /> <br />The low bidder is a reputable vendor who has proven to be reliable. Staff is confident that <br />this is a competitive bid. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />1. Do not authorize the purchase of material, directing staff to solicit additional bids from <br />vendors from a broader area. <br />2. Do not authorize the purchase of material, directing staff to purchase on an "over-the <br />counter" basis, increasing the cost of material. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Funds for the purchase of the sanitary sewer systems materials were approved and <br />appropriated by the City Council in the Public Works Services Fiscal Year 2000/01 <br />operating budget in the amount of $75,000.
