IOA-ii1�-1 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF FRANCHISE <br /> AGREEMENT WITH RCN TELECOM SERVICES OF CALIFORNIA, INC. <br /> FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF <br /> CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has previously entered into a Franchise <br /> Agreement for the construction, maintenance and operation of a cable television system <br /> within the jurisdiction of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council proposes to enter into an additional Franchise Agreement <br /> for the construction, maintenance and operation of an additional cable television system <br /> within the jurisdiction of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the term of the proposed Franchise Agreement with RNC Telecom <br /> Services of California, Inc. ("RCN") is for an initial period of eleven (11) years. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Findings and Determination. The Council of Redwood City hereby <br /> finds and determines that: <br /> 1. There will be significant positive impact in the City in having, for the first time, <br /> competitive options available to its residents in the selection of video programming, local <br /> and long distance telephone service, and high-speed Internet access services. <br /> 2.
