 •
• Preliminary Soils Recommendations: Prepare preliminary soil design parameters and
recommendations for the proposed widening.
• Prepare Geotechnical Desi and Materials Report: Prepare detail report including
desi recommendations for pavement sections, subg preparation for culver[s,
information on g conditions, and other relevant geotechnical issues.
• Discuss seismic considerations, evaluate the liquefaction potential and comment on the
site soil conditions from this standpoint. Information related to Caltrans Seismic desi
criteria such as depth to rock like material and peak rock acceleration shall be provided.
• Prepare the report documentin the work performed, physical data acquired and
geotechnical design recommendarions.
Using the general plan as a base map, prepare Soil Survey Sheets and Log of Test
Borings for roadway and structures, respectively, in accordance with the Caltrans
standards.
b) Bridge Foundation Report
• Research and Data Collection: Review of readily available published geologic and soil
literature in the viciruty of the site including review of the as-built drawings and esisting
LOTB.
• Permits: W e will comply with the City and Caltrans Permit requirements. We will
obtain necessary utility clearances for field exploration.
Field Exploration: For the proposed new ramp bridge structure, drill2 borings ranging in
depth from 2-30 meters in depth. The borin locations will depend upon the available
access and any boring data from previous studies. A truck mounted drill ri is
anticipated for this work. Some traffic control is assumed at this time in areas where
necessary.
• Classify and continuouslv loa subsurface soil conditions encountered in each test boring
at the time of drilling. Obtain "relatively undisturbed" and bulk samples of substrata
from test borings. The bonns will be drilled and capped in accordance with the permit
requirements.
• Laboratory Testing: Perform laboratory tests on representative soil samples such as
moisture density, unconfined compression, gradation analyses, corrosion tests and
Plasticity Index test, as necessary.
• Soils !nalysis/Evaluation: Perform engineering analyses to develop design
recommendations for the proposed foundations and approaches.
City of Be[mont — Roue 101/Ralsron Ave IC Ntodifications 07/06/00
Proposal — PScE
4
