<br />7.4A2 <br /> <br />Upon canceling the contract for the Citywide Street Resurfacing, the staff wants to add work <br />to two existing contracts in the amount of $200,000. ' <br /> <br />In order to proceed with the work that was proposed in the Citywide Street Resurfacing, <br />(Hudson Street, Jefferson Avenue, Whipple Avenue) staff recommends change orders to <br />two existing road work contracts, as follows: <br /> <br />1. Add Hudson Street to the Overlay Project for an additional cost of $140,000. This <br />amount to 11 .26% of the current contract for the Overlay Project. The Overlay <br />Project was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Interstate Grading & Paving of <br />So. San Francisco, California. Their low bid $1,243,312.00 was 6.99% below the <br />Engineer's Estimate. <br /> <br />2. Add Jefferson Avenue & Whipple Avenue to the Slurry Seal Project for an additional <br />cost of $60,000. This would increase the existing contract by 30%. The Slurry Seal <br />Project was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, American Asphalt of Hayward, <br />California. Their low bid of $200,054.48 was 10.7% below the Engineer's Estimate. <br /> <br />The remaining funds will be retained in the Gas Tax Fund for next year's project. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />>- Do not approve the Change Orders and Include the entire Citywide Resurfacing Project <br />in next year's RMS Program. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $1.9 million are appropriated in the 1999-2000 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of Gas Tax Construction and Transportation <br />(Measure "A") Funds for the RMS Program. <br /> <br /> <br />,(J¡~ <br /> <br />Ed Everett'... <br />City Manager <br /> <br />JP/MSS:ss <br />Silibrarylreportsisaberirejection_citywide st. resurfacing <br />
