<br />~ ß ~'-\ <br /> <br />MEETING NOTES <br />Traffic Issues <br /> <br />Stop Sign at Hopkins <br /> <br />July 20, 2000 <br />7:00 PM <br /> <br />Facilitated by <br />Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center <br /> <br />QUESTIONS/CONCERNS/IDEAS RELATED TO PROPOSED STOP <br />SIGN <br /> <br />Information from Staff <br />~ Speed survey data is from past (few years) <br />~ Accident history: 1 accident in 1998 <br />~ Average delay at King, waiting for gap in traffic is 12-13 seconds <br />~ Delay at Hopkins would be estimated 15 seconds per vehicle forming 7-8 <br />vehicles (18 seconds, if traffic increases by 10%) <br />~ Delay is considered acceptable by standards <br />~ 7500 per day's similar to 1992; 750 during afternoon peak hours <br />~ Pedestrians crossings - 46 today; 21 at Lowell and 21 at Hopkins/King <br />~ Records indicate 4-way stop in past; but long-time residents comment that it <br />wasn't there. <br />,. City Council is receptive to these issues - August 28, 2000 <br />~ Stop signs and speed humps both have noise; stop signs more noise <br /> <br />General Comments <br />,. Old data is not relevant, given changes in dot com traffic <br />~ Hopkins and Hudson stop sign helped <br />,. Safety issue because of Stafford Parking monitor on Saturday/Sunday was <br />looking for number of pedestrians during peak hours <br />~ Need more red paint - decrease in parking <br />,. Want safety rationale for stop sign <br />~ Traffic on Hopkins is commute; not hours of park usage. Remember that stop <br />signs work 24 hrs. <br />~ Seems like not much parking on Nevada and south side of Hopkins. <br />,.
