<br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />September 18, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Change Order No.1 for the FY 2000-2001 Thermoplastic and Signs Services Project. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Authorize, by motion, the execution of Contract Change Order No.1 to the agreement with <br />Chrisp Company, of Fremont, California, in an amount not to exceed $17,460.60. <br /> <br />Background <br />This contract was awarded to Chrisp Company on August 14, 2000, pursuant to Resolution <br />No. 13961. Chrisp Company was the lowest responsible bidder among three bidders. <br />Change Order No.1 is a 45% increase over the original contract amount of $38,910.00. <br /> <br />The original contract was for the construction of standard crosswalks. Based on the work <br />of the group that is addressing school traffic issues, staff is recommending the installation <br />of high-visibility crosswalk markings and additional school crosswalk warning signs at <br />certain crosswalk locations that have been identified as primary school crossings. In an <br />effort to expedite the completion and to minimize the cost of this work, staff recommends <br />that this work be added to the original contract work to be performed with the FY 2000- <br />2001 Thermoplastic and Signs Services Project. <br /> <br />Staff also recommends that two other items of work, which were approved at the <br />September 11,2000 City Council meeting, be added to the contract work. <br /> <br />Change Order No.1 will consist of the following three work items. Chrisp Company has <br />provided a quote to perform the work. Staff evaluated the quote and believes the prices <br />are fair and in line with the original bid: <br /> <br />Item 1 <br />Installation of "high-visibility" crosswalk markings, pavement legends, and school <br />crosswalk warning signs at primary school crossings. <br /> <br /> School Crossing Location: School: <br />1.
