��;: � ` ' T� f�e �c��a�i� ��y�r and G� Go�rnci� Fro� �he C� Nlana er October 23, 2000 Subject Agreement for Professional Engineering and Design Services — Zeiger Engineers, Inc. - Engineering File No. 1604-03 Recommendation Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing execution of an agreement with Zeiger Engineers, Inc., of Oakland, California, for providing Professional Engineering and Design Services for furnishing construction documents and other electrical engineering services to modify the existing electrical panels for accepting emergency portable generators to the "essential facilities," in an amount not to exceed $18,000. Background In the event of a major earthquake or other emergency, "essential facilities" are necessary to be operational. Currently, the lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, kitchen facilities, and power to Community Activities Building, Fair Oaks Community Center, and the Veterans Senior Center are at risk in the event of a major earthquake or an emergency. The qualified firm of Zieger Engineers, Inc. has submitted a proposal to design and furnish engineering services to modify the existing electrical panels in the City's "essential facilities" (Community Activities Building, Fair Oaks Community Center, and the Veterans Senior Center) to accept emergency portable generators, in an amount not to exceed �18,000.
