<br />~ ß-1- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING <br />TREES" ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />AND <br /> <br />SUPPORTING <br /> <br />"CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has a long standing and paramount <br /> <br />interest in the health and beauty of its urban forest; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Trees, a nonprofit organization, was founded to improve <br /> <br />the quality of life in the City of Redwood City through a coordinated program of <br /> <br />education, outreach, and advocacy for tree planting, maintenance, and support; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City believes in the preservation of trees <br /> <br />and maintains a tree preservation ordinance to ensure a legacy of mature trees <br /> <br />for the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the entire City benefits from a healthy environment and the <br /> <br />civic pride demonstrated when any property owner, resident, or volunteer gains <br /> <br />awareness about trees, and improves private property and public areas by <br /> <br />planting trees and landscapes; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby commend the efforts of City Trees, <br /> <br />recognizing the valuable, citizen-based efforts to which its members are <br /> <br />dedicated for the betterment of life in the City of Redwood City, and hereby urges <br /> <br />the citizens of the City of Redwood City to support and join in those efforts. <br /> <br />Reso-1033 <br />f:lsh/sh/RC/Council <br />DES;rg <br />11/06/00 <br />
