<br />7,3-A1- <br /> <br /> <br />November 13, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Advertisement for Bids - Demolition of Fire Station #11 - 909 Second Avenue <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Adopt a resolution approving the Contract Documents entitled, "Contract Documents for <br />the Demolition of Fire Station #11 - 909 Second Avenue," and authorize advertisement <br />for bids. <br /> <br />Background <br />Originally built in 1951, Fire Station #11, located at Second Avenue and Bay Road, <br />served as both a Fire Station and Branch Library for the Friendly Acres neighborhood. <br />Currently, a new station is being built at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Second <br />Avenue, and is expected to be operational by early December. <br /> <br />After the old station is abated of asbestos-containing materials, the building will be <br />demolished and the area will be reclaimed as part of Spinas Park, Staff will be meeting <br />with the neighborhood association to review the conceptual designs and solicit input for <br />the park, as well as having the Park and Recreation Commission review the plans, <br /> <br />The contract documents, have been completed by Engineering and Construction, and <br />are now ready for advertisement.
