<br />7.&-82. <br /> <br />To qualify for the transfer program, an individual would be required to possess <br />these requirements: <br /> <br />. Two years of full time firefighting service with a community of 30,000 people <br />or greater, or in a department that responds to a minimum of 2,000 service <br />calls per year. <br />. Possess an Emergency Medical Technician certificate or paramedic license. <br />. Completion of a fire academy (Chief to determine based on academy criteria). <br />. Possession of a Fire Officer's certificate or Fire Fighter II certificate. <br />. Successfully pass the physical performance test (department will schedule <br />test with approved testing agency). <br />. Successfully pass the physical evaluation, psychological evaluation, and <br />background check. <br />. Successfully pass in-house oral board. <br /> <br />Carry Over Benefits <br /> <br />. Up to 200 hours of sick leave. Not eligible for sick leave cash out program <br />until completion of probation. <br />. Salaries may be set above first step depending on qualifications with Council <br />approval. <br />. Equitable accrual rate of vacation to match years of service. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />For a 12-week or 30-shift period: <br /> <br />Position <br />Entry Level F/F in County Academy <br /> <br />Lateral Transfer F/F at Step 2 with <br />EMT Education Incentive 2.5% ) <br />Paramedic Assistance Pay 2.5%) <br /> <br />Cost Per Month <br />$4,374.00 <br /> <br />$4,822.65 <br /> <br />The difference would amount to approximately $450 per month per lateral <br />candidate. If the lateral candidate starts at a step higher, an additional 5% per <br />step is added to the overall monthly cost.
