?e3-AI

December 11,2000

Subject
State Lands Commission Lease (7723.9)
Engineering File No. 601-03

Recom mendation
Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing execution of the State Lands Commission
Lease No. PRC 7723.9.

.Background
The Redwood Shores Lagoon System has seven inlet/outlet facilities to the Bay. One
of these facilities is located on the Steinberger Slough, west of the South Bayside
System Authority's facility. Redwood Shores Properties, Inc. installed this facility as
part of the lagoon development in 1994-95. Since the structure has to extend into the
slough itself, encroachment into land belonging to the State is unavoidable.

In 1993, Redwood Shores Properties, Inc. entered into a lease agreement with the
State Lands Commission for this encroachment. At the present time (since the project
has been accepted by the City), the lease should also be held by the City: On October
3, 2000, staff filed an application with the State Lands Commission for the subject
lease. Lease No. PRC 7723.9 has been prepared for the City by the Commission staff.

Fiscal Impacts
The lease calls for no compensation for the use of the land; therefore, there are no
fiscal impacts to the City. This lease has been reviewed and approved by the City
Attorney's office. . . ~ ;/ j J

~ ~~ ; /1¡{¿¿tY

el atterson Ed Everett
ager, Engineering & Construction City Manager

S.
