To deny an architectural permit exception to the Sign Ordinance at 650 EI Camino Real for: a) Two prohibited roof signs (Redwood City Sign Ordinance, Seciion 3.114f). b) One nonconforming pole sign (Section 3.79c). 2. To deny an architectural permit exception to the Sign Ordinance at � 1034 EI Camino Real for: a) Telephone numbers located on wall (instead of window) (Section 3.78b) b) Wall signage with excessive area (Section 3.78a). This report is combined because one of the applicants, Rhodes Chiropractic, is an affected business owner in Appeal 1, and is the applicant in Appeal 2. Recommendation Appeal 1: Uphold the decision of the ARC to enforce the Sign Ordinance (therefore denying the architectural permit exception): a) Amortize the existing pole sign over a 7-year period (meaning the sign would have to be removed by June, 2006). b) Amortize two existing roof signs over a 4-year period (to be removed by June, 2003). The ARC further stipulated that the affected signs are expected to be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis during the amortization period. At the end of this period, the signs shall be removed or otherwise brought into compliance with the current sign ordinance. The ARC felt that the applicant could easily conform to the Ordinance by installing "standard" signs (within the 4-7 year amortization period). Appeal 2: Uphold the decision of the ARC to enforce the Sign Ordinance (therefore denying the architectural permit exception): a) Relocate telephone numbers from the wall to the window area. b) Remove the painted wooden sign from building side wall.
