Prior
to the implementation of the plan, Council to receive an information report from
staff as to the method of performance monitoring. The information report will
include a schedule for periodic performance reports. The motion passed by a
unanimous voice vote by those present with Council Member Howard
absent. (702) MINUTE ORDER 05 -138
C. Middlefield Road name change to Theatre Way
Vice Mayor stated that the staff report included in the Council agenda packet
was not correct and that a revised recommendation has been provided for
consideration. Redevelopment Manager Moeller stated that copies of the correct
staff report were available on the back table and clarified that the correct
recommendation was printed on the Council agenda.
Redevelopment Manager Moeller explained the background on the topic stating
that the intent of discussions and reference in the agreement was to create
linkage to the theatre and theatre district, the fox Theatres and Veterans. She
stated that the concept of using the way finding program and the directional
signage that is in the process of being created for the entire downtown could
perhaps meet the same concerns and intent. The historical significance in the
area might indicate that another street name be used such as Redwood Plaza
Drive from Veterans up to Middlefield Road. Then change Middlefield Road over
to Brewster and possibly up to Whipple Avenue.
Anthony Gibbs stated a number of concerns documented in his letter of July 11.
He stated that for the most part, the businesses in the area are lawyers who have
invested time and money in the location due to access to the Civic and
Government Center. He stated that the court signage is terrible and that it can be
JOINT MEETING JULY 11, 2005
CITY COUNCIL AND BOARD OF EQUALIZATION PAGE 9
MINUTE ORDER BOOK NO. 60
Page No. 527
