<br />March 11, 1991 <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />PROJECT AND SYSTEMS ENGINEER <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To perform, under limited supervision, complicated engineering planning, <br />design and review activities; and to exercise construction inspection and <br />supervision with the help of others. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Work of this class may involve the lead supervision of technical personnel. <br />Assignments are general and of a confirming nature, requiring the exercise of <br />independent judgement and initiative in prioritizing, performing, assigning <br />and coordinating the work. Expected to perform, under limited supervision, <br />the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level <br />of professional training and experience. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receive general supervision from senior civil engineer or from higher level <br />engineering personnel. Responsibilities may include lead supervision over <br />technical engineering personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />Serve as design team leader in the development of designs, plans, <br />specifications, and estimates for the construction of public works projects. <br /> <br />Inspect project sites to assist in solution of difficult problems; interpret <br />specifications and City policy, and make change orders. <br /> <br />Review plans for construction prepared by private engineers. <br /> <br />Review plans from utilities for public works requirements. <br /> <br />Compute sewer connection fees, facilities fees, and fees for water services. <br /> <br />Check computations and specified materials for accuracy and compliance with <br />regulations. <br /> <br />Review subdivision and parcel maps. <br /> <br />Prepare periodic project status reports. <br />Prepare various applications for state and federal grants. <br /> <br />Review and make recommendations on technical reports and studies. <br /> <br />Assist in the preparation of the capital improvement plans and budget. <br /> <br />Exhibit "A" <br /> <br />11489 <br /> <br />T.T <br />
