Additionally, fire suppression <br />in such areas requires specialized equipment which the <br />Fire Department lacks. <br />(e) Existing within the City's corporate limits are a <br />number of fuel storage facilities (gasoline, jet fuel, <br />diesel oil, motor oil) which are not isolated from <br />other possible incompatible industrial and commercial <br /> <br />uses. <br /> <br />(f) The travel time to a fire within the City is impeded by <br /> <br /> <br />the following conditions, unique to Redwood City: <br /> <br />(1) Railroad tracks divide the City into three (3) <br /> <br /> <br />sections, and response requiring crossing of these <br /> <br /> <br />tracks faces potential delay for emergency <br /> <br />vehicles. The heavily populated northern position <br /> <br /> <br />of the City is without an overcrossing. <br /> <br />(2) There is an absence of parallel emergency response <br /> <br />routes to Highway 101 or El Camino Real and an <br /> <br /> <br />absence of adequate north/south emergency response <br /> <br />routes west of the railroad tracks, impeding <br /> <br /> <br />access to a heavily populated section of the City. <br /> <br /> <br />(3) A growing communi ty of single family and <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />-..,..-.....-" <br />
