REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />November 13, 2017 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Repair of Storm Water Pumps <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion: <br />1. Waive an irregularity; and <br />2. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a General Services <br />Agreement with Pump Repair Service Company for the repair of three storm <br />water pumps in the amount of $111,719 <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Each year, the Public Works Services Department performs an assessment of all storm <br />water pump stations within the City. Based on this evaluation, staff schedule follow-up <br />repairs to ensure full pump station operating capacity during the winter rainy season. <br />This year, staff identified three pumps at three different pump stations as needing repair <br />and released a notice inviting bids for the project. <br /> <br />ANALYSIS <br />Due to the extent of repairs needed, staff determined that an experienced contractor <br />specializing in pump repair would be the best suited to repair and reinstall the pumps. <br />Staff advertised the solicitation in The Daily News on October 6, 2017 and received the <br />following two responses by the bid deadline. <br /> <br />Name of Bidder Kmart Pump <br />Station <br />Lagoon Pump <br />Station <br />Oddstad Pump <br />Station <br />Total Bid Cost <br />Pump Repair <br />Service <br />Company <br />$29,448.00 $33,617.00 $48,654.00 $111,719.00 <br />Commercial <br />Pump & <br />Mechanical, <br />Inc. <br />$29,189.00 $29,740.00 $55,146.00 $114,075.00 <br /> <br />Staff recommends awarding the bid to Pump Repair Service Company as the lowest <br />responsible bidder.
