June 29, 2017. The contract stipulated a 90-day maintenance period; the maintenance
continued until September 21, 2017.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to accept the project, or authorize the release of bonds and
retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract and prior Council action.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding for the work of this construction contract has been previously
appropriated as FY 2016/2017 Parks Impact Fee Fund, Linden Park Reconstruction
Project and the Capital Improvement Project Fund, Playground Replacement Program.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines per Section 15303 “New Construction or
Conversion of Small Structures” for the construction of landscape features (including
caterpillar-shaped benches, stepping pavers, painted wood stack log walls, willow
structures, balancing logs and egg seats), benches, fencing, and signage; and Section
15304 “Minor Alterations to Land” for associated cut and fill of soils, trenching and
backfill, grading, landscaping, and placement of a 10’ wide pathway, limited concrete
paving and decomposed granite pathways. There will be no significant cumulative
impact or significant effect on the environment when considering the totality of the
project as the reconstructed park is primarily passive in nature, acts as a local
neighborhood park serving the residents of the immediate vicinity, and replaces a
previous park on the site. The expanded area of the park consists of walking paths,
benches and ornamental landscaping.

CLAUDIA OLALLA, ASLA
PARKS LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

CHRIS BETH
PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR

MELISSA STEVENSON DIAZ
CITY MANAGER

6.2.A. - Page 2
