12 the Council from that day to this, and suggested that a park be named in his honor. The Commission was very much in favor of this !- suggestion, but there was no action to be taken at this time. Mr. Morton brought up the previously discussed activities of constructing Bocci Ball Alleys, and a Junior Hard Ball League. Mr. Dimmitt stated that these were just details to be worked out between himself and Mr. Morton, which need not be presented to the Advisory Board. The subject of the Recreation Department's sponsoring summer orchestra practice at McKinley school, presented at the previous meeting by Mr. Spinas, was discussed further, and it was the feeling of the group that it could' not rightfully sponsor any- thing which seemed more than anything else a private enterprise. Mr. V~n Gundy moved that the meeting be adjourned. Mrs. McAtee seconded the motion, and the meeting adjourned at 9 P.M. Mildred J. McAtee, K. W. Van Gundy, Donald Bogie, Mildred Hoenck, Councilman Evans A. Fletcher, Recreation Director Alfred Morton, Supt. of Parks, Roger Walsh, .~. De ,Armand; Mr. Bedburry, and Art Mills, representing the Sportsmen's Club. Absent: Chairman Wayne Millington and Andrew Spinas. The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Hagan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. De Arman~, W. P. A. Director for Redwood City, reported 4,016 recreative hours between the date of the inaugu- ration of the WPA recreation program in Redwood City, April 11, to April 30, a recreative hour representing a full hour spent by one child (or adult) on a playground under W. P. A. supervision.
