Argo.

\

Mr. Morton suggested further that a letter be written
thanking the Gray-Thorning Lumber Company for their kindness and
generosity in sawing fence poles for the rifle range.

~

Mr. Hagan mentioned that a minister had called to his
attention the fact that the recreation department held too many
activities on Sunday mornings. Mr~ Morton stated that the only
event that was held on Sunday morning was the annual Cross Country
Run, and that that was the only time it was plausible to hold the
event. The committee agreed with Mr. Morton in regard to the Cross
Country Run, but only under extraordinary circumstances would they
sponsor any other -activities to be held on Sunday morning.

Mr.' Bogie brought up the sUbJect of the Five Points Play-
ground. City Manager Dimmitt stated that he had chosen~ a site which
was owned by Flynn & MCGarvey, and that Mr. Flynn had agreed to give
him a price on it, but to date has not done so. Chai~man ~llington
suggested that the individual members of the committee get in touch
with Mr. Flynn, urging him to quote a price upon the site selected
by Mr. Dimmitt, in order to expedite going ahead with the playground.

After a discussion regarding the use of the Sequoia field
on Sunday mornings, it was decided that unless some unusual circum-
stance arose, and by special action_of the Advisory Committee, the
ball park could not be used Sunday mornings.

Chairman Millington announced that he was working upon

....

a new set-up for the Recreation committee, and assuming that it
would meet with Mr. Dimmitt's approval before the next meeting,
would have the proposed-. ordinance to present at that time.

The meeting adjoUrned at 8:36~.

Mildred J.
