<br />.. , <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />'-22 <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Chairman Millington called the meeting to order and direct- <br />ed the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting,-which were- <br />approved as read. <br /> <br />Letters from Arthur Ryan, W.P.A. Recreation Dupervisor of <br />San Mateo County, and George W. Braden, Western Representative of the <br />National Recreation Association, were acknowledged, read,- and,order- <br />ed filed. City Manager Dimmitt suggeste-d- that the secretary reply:~r <br />to Major Braden's letter, inviting him to come to Redwood City, stat- <br />ing that Major Braden had spent many years in the recreation field <br />and could be very helpful to the recreation department. . <br /> <br />Mr. Morton presented proposed rules and regulations for the <br />new rifle and pistol range. Mr. Van Gundy moved that these rules and <br />regulations be adopted and passed on to-the City Council for their <br />approval with the recommendation of the Committee. Mr. Bogie second- <br />ed the motion, which was carried unanimously. A copy of the propos- <br />ed list of rules is filed herewith. <br /> <br />- Mr.-Morton suggested in his report that-next 4th of July <br />the use of fireworks be permitted under. supervision at Yacht Harbor. <br />This met with the approval of the group and Mr. Van Gundy made a <br />motion, which was seconded by Mr. Spinas, and carried, that the Com- <br />mittee go on record as being in favor 'of sOme sort of community cel- <br />ebration on the 4th of July at the Yacht Harbor where the children <br />might present their fireworks under supervision, and with the City <br />participating in some way--through the merchants or otherwise. <br /> <br />Director Morton presented plans for-a Halloween Party at <br />Hawes Park, and stated that $5.00 would cover the expenditures for <br />the party. This was approved by the Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />Two improvements at the Yacht Harbor suggested in Mr. <br />Morton1s report were a float and the enlargement to twice its size <br />of the present sand-box, both of which the committee was in favor, <br />and will recommend to the City Council that they be included in <br />next year's budget. <br /> <br />The committee's-attention was called by Director Morton <br />to the splendid cooperation the Redwoòd City Grammar Schools are <br />giving to the recreation department, and suggested that a letter <br />of ,thanks be-written to the Board of Trustees of the Redwood City <br />Grammar School District. <br /> <br />'-... <br /> <br />Mr. Morton mentioned in connectîon with the construction <br />of the rifle-range that-the High School had donated~wire and fence <br />poles, and felt that a letter of gratification-should be sent to <br /> <br />----- ,,- ---------______n --- ----,------~--- --- --- ----- -..- --- --------------- -- ----_..-~------ -- ---- <br /> <br />------------ <br /> <br />- -~._- <br /> <br />- ---- --~--------.... ----------- _.------------- - --..-------- -- __n------- - - ----,,---------- ..._.---~-- <br />
