Using mass transit is an efficient way to move
people. Improvements to transit would make it more usable,
encouraging additional ridership and reducing vehicular
congestion. Throughout the study, people expressed
desires for more frequent service and improved facilities.
However, the City does not operate or control transit
service, making changes difficult. Staff worked with these
agencies in developing the Corridor Plan and would
continue these efforts to support a stronger transit system.
Strategies to support transit include:
Enhancing the bus stops along EI Camino Real with
shelters, lighting, and ridership information
Improving the Transit Center, including access,
signage, and the facilities
Ensuring that bus stops are efficiently and safely
designed in coordination with protected bike lanes.
Walkinq: Walking is an efficient, cost effective, and healthy
way to travel for short trips.
