<br />ð./¿-~ <br /> <br />Total construction time for the 2004-2005 Asphalt Rubberized Chip Seal Project is <br />Twenty (20) calendar days. <br /> <br />A bid opening was held on August 3, 2005. Two (2) bids were received for the 2004- <br />2005 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and are summarized below: <br /> <br />Rank Contractor Amount <br />1. Western States SurfacinQ, Inc. - Modesto, CA $315,490.28 <br />2. Manhole Adjusting Contractors, Inc. - Pico Rivera, CA $450,955.00 <br /> <br /> <br />The low bid by Western States Surfacing, Inc. is 13% higher than Engineer's Estimate <br />of $278,180.00, and is considered a good and responsible bid. <br /> <br />Western States Surfacing, Inc. has done projects for the City in the past; and are <br />considered a good and responsible contractor. <br /> <br />A copy of the Agreement is available for review in the Clerk's office. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />Do not approve the contract for the 2004-2005 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, which <br />would leave the scheduled streets in a deteriorated condition. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $900,000 are appropriated in the 2004-2005 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of the Transportation (Measure "A") Fund.
