estimates, the project can proceed to construction. It is anticipated that the bidding <br />process will begin about two months following the approvals. <br /> <br />Additionally, the Consultant is qualified and available to provide continued engineering <br />support services including: 1) Bidding Support Services ($7,510), and 2) Design <br />Support During Construction Services ($105,200), if desired by the City. These <br />additional services are included in Amendment No. 2 as “Optional Services,” and can be <br />performed as directed by the City. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that construction of the joint utility trench project will commence around <br />the middle of next year. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Do not authorize the execution of the contract amendment and direct staff to complete <br />the project under a separate agreement. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The cost for the services outlined in Amendment No.2 is for an amount not to exceed <br />$157,423. The City will be reimbursed for the cost of the design services and the <br />construction contract by the participating utilities. All participants must approve the final <br />plans and agree to the estimated proportionate project costs, prior to the start of the <br />construction. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />Approval of this amendment is not considered to be a project under the California <br />Environment Quality Act (CEQA). Prior to construction, staff will present the final project <br />to the Planning Division for CEQA review.
