Œ@ŒOWŒ ill) July 2, 1991 Mr. Peter Vorametsanti Project and Systems Engineer City of Redwood City, Engineering Department 1017 Middlefield Road Redwood City, CA 94064 Dear Mr. Vorametsanti: We are pleased to respond to your request for environmental services for assistance in the preparation of CEQA documentation for levee upgrades being proposed by Redwood City in the vicinity of Redwood Shores. On the basis of our discussion on June 26th, we have prepared the following description of the general work tasks that' would be necessary to provide the needed services. GENERAL WORK TASKS 1. Initial Background Review ESA will meet with the City, and if appropriate the City's consultants and Redwood Shores, Inc., to review all available infonnation regarding the levee project and the proposed site. We will conduct a cursory field reconnaissance to better acquaint ourselves with the site and assess the need for funher site investigation. 2. Prepare Initial Study ESA will assess the environmental impacts of the levee project and prepare an Initial Study. This assessment will include reviewing the Initial Study checklist and discussion of topics for which a "Yes" or "Maybe" response seems appropriate. We have identified the following potential issues: Describe changes or disruptions that might occur in geo10gic/seismologic conditions due to the proposed project, including a discussion of erosion and sedimentation or siltation changes. Describe changes that might occur in air quality due to the proposed project. This assessment will include a general discussion of odors and any changes in air movement, moisture, or temperature. Describe any changes in water quality and hydrology that might occur as a result of the proposed project. Both surface waters and groundwater will be addressed. ESA understands that the surface water issue is particularly important because of the existence of wetlands in the vicinity of the proposed project.
